Integrated Technology in Education (ITE) is an initiative to empower government school students in rural areas with better learning ICT facilities & accessibility and also better understanding of their school curriculum.
This initiative is not only aimed at providing computer education to students, rather it is aimed at making school education more attractive and interesting for the students, especially in the rural areas.
Using multimedia for school lessons results in better productivity for the students and retention rates among the students are also found to be high, because people remember 20% of what they see, 40% of what they see and hear, but about 75% of what they see and hear and do simultaneously.
Students in urban areas, for that matter, are exposed to the concept of internet/smart class/ multimedia sessions in their school curriculum, which is lacking in rural areas. The access of private school students to such devices and facilities is comparatively better. This ITE project is aimed at bridging this digital divide among the student communities of rural areas and urban areas.
This ITE project aims to target 18- 20 schools in Juria block of Nagaon.
We not only train the students, but also the subject teachers as well. This will remove the school’s dependence on only the IT trainers to conduct the ICT classes.
The ITE project being implemented in Juria Block of Nagaon District of Assam and Rongram block of West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya is being implemented by Digital Empowerment Foundation, New Delhi and is being funded by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Mumbai.
